15 Best Netflix Original Series of all time

This blog post is about a few top 15 best Netflix Original Series of 2018-19. I am sure you will like it to. I am adding the trailer along with it to give you an idea along with the storyline. So, let’s begin with the most popular one which I also like personally.

Stranger Things Netflix original series ( 2016- 2019) :

Set in Indiana during the 80s. Stranger things 1st season revolves around, the sudden disappearance of a young boy called-Will. Unfortunately for Will only a police chief, his mother and his best friends think he’s still-alive and together they must confront a terrifying & mysterious force in order to get him-back. But the more they search for answers, the further they are drawn into an extraordinary
Mystery involving government experiments and one strange-girl.
Effectively a period piece that perfectly captures the U.S. during the early 80s, Stranger
Things is clearly inspired by the works of Stephen king and Steven Spielberg, where right of the bat you know you’re going to be in for one hell of a-ride. I think it’s the combination of the dark and creepy introduction credits and location -- to the great child acting and direction that gives this series such a strong immersive start. I mean as soon you start watching it, it really does hook you right in, where you just feel invested in characters and story right from episode one. Now while I wouldn't say it’s 2nd season is quite as tight as the 1st, Stranger things is meant to be at least 4 season in length and with the 3rd season scheduled to be out this July let’s just hope it holds up to its 1st seasons impressive standards.

SEASON 1 (2016)

SEASON 2 (2017)

SEASON 3 (4 July 2019)

Dark Netflix original series 2017 :

When children start disappearing from a small isolated town next to a nuclear power plant. This brings light to affairs, double lives and the dark past of four families living within the area. Linked between the past and present the series follows Jonas, a teenager struggling to cope with his father's recent suicide and a police officer whose brother disappeared under similar circumstances 33 years earlier. Not a TV show for everyone Dark's main mystery unfolds at a very slow pace so I can imagine your average viewer growing impatient with it quite quickly. However this series is both tense and terrifying, as well as very gloomy- so for those of you who love strange and atmospheric series then this is the show for you. This fresh, creepy and innovative drama has, not only great filmmaking and sound design, but also has fantastic and realistic characters that are only matched by their equally solid acting. I might also add that the Dub for this series isn’t particularly good, so I strongly recommend that you stick to subtitles as the alternative is pretty bad.

The Haunting of Hill House Netflix original series 2018:

Is about five siblings who as children, grew up in what would eventually become, the most famous haunted house in North America. Now as adults this fragmented family is forced back together, to face the ghosts of their pasts; confronting the memories of their old home and the terrifying events that drove them from it. Based on Shirley Jackson’s novel of the same name - The Haunting of Hill House is an eye-catchingly creepy ghost story with an equally as satisfying cast of characters. Each with their own tormented backstory that links them to their old home no matter how hard they try to escape it. In my opinion this is the closest you’re going to get to watch a perfect horror series: from the first rate cinematography, editing, set design and story to the great characters and fantastically
eerie atmosphere. Not once does this show come off as either cheesy or ciche - and apart from some okish CGI the Haunting of Hill House does everything right.

Atypical Netflix original series

Atypical is a coming of age story that follows Sam, an 18-year-old on the autism spectrum, who in search for love and independence- decides it's time to find a girlfriend. While on his journey of self-discovery, Sam unintentionally triggers a set of life-changing paths for his family that leaves them all asking the same question, what does it really mean to be normal? As an excellent depiction of Asperger's syndrome, A-typical is a series that really has gone out of its way to make itself as accurate and realistic as
Possible while still been entertaining at the same time. With its great performances and an almost real-life interpretation of a family dealing with the social struggles of having an autistic family member. A-typical is a warm and funny show that leaves you ~the viewer~ always smiling learning and reflecting with a greater understanding of this misunderstood disorder. But besides from that, all the characters have great Rappaport, the story is very down to earth for the most part and the comedy is evening spear
Throughout- I’d say the series only problem is that the episodes are only 30 minutes long and each season is only 8 - 10 episodes.

SEASON 1 (2017)

SEASON 2

Mind Hunter Netflix original series

Set in the late 1970s, two FBI agents attempt to create a new form of innovative crime science. That incorporates psychology, sociology, and anthropology as a method to reveal the motives for these newly classified serial killers. Tasked with interviewing these unusual serial killers our agents must fight against the bureaus simplistic status quo of Means Motive and opportunity in order to get to the truth. Probably one of the best Netflix originals to date, Mind hunter distinguishes itself from other crime thrillers with its excellent character development and unique cinematography. With David Fincher producing and directing most of the series, it’s one of those rare and fascinating shows that not only has fantastic acting but also portrays real-life serial killers in such a fashion, that it’s hard to believe these types of people really exist. A good watch that’s intelligent intriguing and original, Mind hunter while a little slow paced at first is a solid crime drama and a must-see series.

SEASON 1 2017

Money Heist Netflix original series

Follows a group of skilled criminals recruited and lead by an enigmatic character only known as “the Professor”. United for only one reason; to get incredibly rich. These ambitious robbers set out to do the unthinkable that is to successfully carry out the biggest robbery in history. With a tight well thought out plan, can this combination of thugs and professionals succeed or just fail. Full of drama, action and suspense Money Heist has an excellent concept for a crime drama with some
Truly gripping moments. As well as having many likeably and well developed characters who are all interesting in their own unique way.
I’d say the series main problem is that it’s increasingly difficult to hold your suspension of disbelief due to how some of the big events & twists, take place in such an implausible manner that the story might come off as nonsensical or contrived. However apart from the lack of logic and a little bit of melodrama Money Heist on the whole is a very watchable and highly entertaining show.

Castlevania Netflix original series

After been provoked by an overzealous bishop, Dracula declares war on the people of the world; unleashing a massive army of demonic creatures to kill all human life. It’s now up to Trevor Belmont the last survivor of the Belmont family~ and his allies. To try to stop Dracula before it’s too late. One of, if not the best video game adaptations to date: Castlevania oozes quality with its fantastic visuals, fluid animation and 1st rate voice acting. Surprisingly enough it’s a non-Japanese anime made by an American/Canadian studio, and if it wasn’t for the default language been set to English I would have easily thought this was made by a Japanese studio.
In addition- the action, story, characters and romance are all great. However the series
Only main weakness, is that it’s episodes are short and that season 1 & 2 combined are only 12 episodes long. I know animation isn’t for everybody but this is one series everyone should check out at least once.

Black Mirror Netflix original series

Is an anthology series of stand-alone episodes that explore a hypothetical dystopian earth? Through the innovations of technology. Looking into a future high-tech world from a paranoid pov where if things such as social media were left unquestioned, how potentially, could this technology transform our everyday lives via smartphones and computer algorithms. A series that always leaves me asking the question: does technology actually help mankind for the better or is it just a hindrance? BLACK MIRROR is one of the most intelligent, chilling & original television shows I’ve ever seen. Where each and every Episode through the setting of a worst case scenario leaves you with a terrifying sense of unease about a very possible technology-driven future. A show that instantly hooks its viewers Black mirror is a great mix of black comedy, satire, and sci-fi that transports those who watch it into a new technological world of alienation.

Kingdom Jobson Netflix original series

It is a horror set in Korea’s medieval Jo-son period, which centres on the Crown Prince, Yi-Chang, who is caught up within a political conspiracy which forces him to leave the safety of his palace. In order to counter this coup, the prince must investigate a mysterious plague, but unknown to him this epidemic has already started to spread at an alarming rate. Just when you thought the zombie genre has been done to death, the Koreans yet again prove us wrong
With this fantastic and original series. Kingdom is a successful combination of location,
Time period and awesome choreography that fits the zombie genre so well, I’d expect that even the most sceptical of viewers would at least appreciate the originality and creativity of this series. Obviously if you’re not a fan of horror or subtitles then this might not be the series
For you- however if you want do see a zombie show that breathes new life into this tired genre then Kingdom is a must see series

Daredevil Netflix original series

Blind lawyer by day, vigilante by night. "Marvel's Daredevil" is an action series that follows
Attorney Matt Murdock, who after an accident with chemicals, was blinded but also imbued with extraordinary senses -allowing him to become an amazing Fighter. With his own law practice in Hell's Kitchen, New York. Matt quickly discovers that been a masked vigilante is a lot harder than he first thought. One of the best superhero series to date: Daredevils cohesion to its source material, high quality production and first rate fight choreography
Are pretty much second to none. All that combined with its gritty realistic and visceral action sequences, makes Daredevil a satisfying contrast to its colourful cinematic cousins in the MCU. In the interest of fairness it’s not a perfect series as does have its flaws such as some
Of the main characters been a little bit on the irritating side, but apart from that Daredevil is a show I would highly recommend to fans of the comic book and MCU movies. On an extra note- I would also suggest that it’s worth watching all the other Marvel shows linked to this one, such as The Punisher, Jessica Jones and nicely together as a complete package. 10.

Altered Carbon Netflix original series

Set in a future where society has been completely transformed by a single piece of technology: be digitized and stored allowing human bodies to be interchangeable; in
Essence making all mankind almost immortal. The series follows a prisoner called Takeshi
Kovacs who returns to life in a new body and must solve a complex murder to win back his freedom. With a cinematic quality you would expect from a Hollywood blockbuster Altered Carbon feels almost as though it’s a movie and not a Netflix -series. But apart from the fantastic visuals the one thing this series really excels at is world building where you
Really do get a sense of the culture and history of this world. And I have to say, I am pretty picky when it comes to sci-fi and Altered Carbon exceeded most of my expectations.
I’d say it’s only main weakness is its lack of subtlety, where most of the series solutions are resolved with over the top one sided action sequences- that and the larger than life visuals are consistently filled with bright colours, to a level that even the darker scenes are pretty, so when your introduced to a gorgeous establishing shot, it loses quite a lot of its impact. But apart from that Altered Carbon is a solid atmospheric sci-fi with a kickass main character and
Supporting cast that all takes place in an incredible world. Making it a must see series for fans of the cyberpunk genre.

American Vandal Netflix original series

Netflix’s true-crime mockumentary series that follows documentarians Peter and Sam as they bring their investigative skills to explore the aftermath of over the top high school pranks such as the phallic vandalism of teachers cars or viral video poop related pranks in school cafeterias. Hilariously original and quirky American Vandal really accomplishes what it sets out to be- a realistic mockumentary of true crimes documentaries with enough tongue in cheek humour to keep you entertained for hours. Sure the series content may be a bit silly and infantile at times, but that doesn’t stop it from been a genuinely thought-provoking mystery which memorable characters. American Vandal manages to succeed at been a comedy while subtly addressing some fairly serious social commentary.

Ozark Netflix original series

The series follows Marty Byrde, a financial adviser who lives in Chicago with his wife and kids. Living relatively normal lives everything is the status quo that is until things go awry with a Mexican drug cartel and Marty and his family have to quickly relocate to Ozark Missouri in order to launder $500 million to appease a drug boss. Underrated by critics, showing that sometimes they just don’t always get it right Ozark is a highly satisfying crime drama with an equally complex plot. The writing for this series really is spot on with
Every twist and big event, especially for the 1st seasons finally where it just leaves
Its main characters caught between a rock and a hard place. Engaging and consistently entertaining with its tense and tight plot, Ozark is a must see show for fans of engrossing crime dramas. In which their main characters are constantly coming across these larger than
Life problems and somehow able to circumvent them but at a heavy cost. Easily one of my
Favourite series on Netflix, if you haven’t seen Ozark yet, by all means check it out.

13. Narcos Netflix original series

Drama tells the true-life story of the growth and spread of cocaine drug cartels across the world during the 1970s. The first two season look into the criminal exploits of the
Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar as well the point of view of an American agent sent to stop him. And the third season focuses on the DEA against the Cali cartel while Narcos Mexico looks into the birth of the Mexican drug war in the 1980s. How to do a Tv series right, Narcos is a series that boasts great writing, acting and high quality
Cinematography. But I think what makes this series so good is that it evenly portrays
Both sides of the law so you’re not just experiencing the story form one perspective. That and it doesn’t glorify the Tyrannical drugs lords, instead it just reveals how ruthless these men were and what unethical things they did, to get to the top.
Definitely a series you should watch if you are into this gritty crime thrillers, Narcos is an excellent and realist show that highlights how power can truly corrupt a person. 14. Sex

Education Netflix original series

This series follows a socially awkward teenager called Otis. Who is unsure & worried about his sex life, despite his mother being a sex therapist school bully with his sexual performance anxiety? Otis with the help of his friend Maeve set up a sex advice business. To educate their fellow students in how to deal with their own sexual issues while making a tidy profit.
Sex Education really is a must-see series for 2019 I mean this is one of those deceptive shows that most adults aged 30 and up would probably never consider watching. And if I’m honest I had zero interest in watching this series. That is however until I watched the first 20 minutes... And from love this show! With its great Acting, funny characters and gorgeous cinematography. I guess one way to sum up sex education would to describe it as a modern British version of a John Hughes film. Sure some of the plot twists are a little bit predictable but that really is a minor nitpick in the grander scheme of things. Season 2 has been confirmed and I honestly can’t wait. So check out season one if you want to see a fun and highly entertaining series with great characters- and I promise you won’t regret it.
